The White House officially commented for the first time on the SSU operation to destroy Russian planes

White House Press Secretary Caroline Leavitt commented during a briefing on Tuesday regarding the Ukrainian Security Service’s operation targeting Russian airfields, stating that the United States seeks the swiftest possible end to the war initiated by Russia.

When asked about Donald Trump’s opinion on the SSU operation, Leavitt noted that the position of the U.S. President on the war remains unchanged.

«He remains optimistic about the progress being observed,» she said, referring to the negotiations between the Ukrainian and Russian sides in Istanbul.

At the same time, according to the spokesperson, Trump is a realist and understands that the conflict between the two countries has been ongoing for a long time due to the «weakness and incompetence» of the previous administration of Joe Biden.

Later, Leavitt added that Trump does not want the war to drag on.

«He wants the fighting to stop, for people to stop dying, and for the issue to be resolved at the negotiating table,» she emphasized.

At the end of the briefing, the spokesperson confirmed that the U.S. President was not informed in advance about the Ukrainian special operation.
