The drone "knew" it was a medical vehicle
On June 2 at 17:00, a Russian FPV drone flew into the courtyard of Kherson City Hospital named after Yevhen Karabelesh. According to the medical facility’s staff, the drone operators clearly saw the medical vehicle and deliberately chose it for their attack.
The 68-year-old driver Serhiy Kolesnyk was in the car. He died instantly from the powerful explosion. Two female medics were nearby but, fortunately, hadn’t yet entered the vehicle. They were injured but survived.

Loved his family and grandchildren
The hospital reports that Serhiy had worked there for 16 years.
"His duties included transporting doctors, nurses, and patients. Even if he had to go out on a call in the middle of the night, he was one of the few who never refused, never said it was already night or not his shift. He simply got up and went to work," shares a colleague.
Many remember that Serhiy was very kind, with a great sense of humor. He never left his native Kherson, even during the occupation. Every time he went on duty, he talked about his family and showed photos of his grandchildren. He loved them very much.

He was a wonderful family man and loved cooking, often sharing how to prepare various dishes. He was a great father and grandfather.
"Over the years of work, he proved himself as a responsible, competent, and highly qualified specialist. He was noted for his friendliness, respect for colleagues, willingness to help, and sincerity in communication. Everyone who had the honor to work with him valued and respected him," reads a post on the hospital’s Facebook page.
