The counterintelligence of the SSU and the National Police prevented a large-scale terrorist attack in Ivano-Frankivsk.

This was reported by the press service of the SSU.

An attempt by the FSB to detonate a homemade explosive device in the city’s central park was foiled.

The plans were thwarted thanks to a 15-year-old schoolgirl who contacted the SSU chatbot "Burn the FSB Agent". The girl reported the occupiers’ intentions to recruit her to carry out the attack.

"A Russian intelligence officer contacted the girl through a messenger and offered her money in exchange for cooperation. During an operational combination, the law enforcement officers learned that, according to the occupiers’ instructions, the minor was supposed to make an explosive device, ’assemble’ it with nuts, and hide it in a thermos. To avoid suspicion from her relatives, the FSB curator instructed the girl to assemble the explosive device in a rented apartment.

Later, the Russian intelligence officer informed the minor that she was to deliver the hidden explosive device to the city park during rush hour, when the most people would be present," the statement said.

The FSB planned to detonate the explosive along with the minor.

In this way, the occupiers hoped to kill as many civilians as possible and eliminate the perpetrator as an ’unnecessary witness’.

The girl refused to take the explosive device to the city center, and the Russian special services began to threaten her that they would "expose" her to the SSU.

Law enforcement officers accompanied every step of the minor. This not only prevented the terrorist attack but also documented the entire process of its preparation – from the schoolgirl’s recruitment to the attempt to blow her up by the Russians.

Currently, the SSU has initiated proceedings under Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (war crimes), and all individuals from the Russian side involved in organizing the attack are being identified.
