Zelenskyy: The Armed Forces of Ukraine are driving the invaders out of the Sumy region
Ukrainian units in the Sumy region are gradually repelling Russian invaders.
This is reported with reference to the evening address of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
According to the president, he listened to a report from the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Oleksandr Syrskyi. "The front and primarily the Pokrovsk direction, the Kursk operation, the border area of Sumy region. Our units in Sumy are gradually repelling the invader. Thank you! Thank you to each of our soldiers, sergeants, and officers for this result. To each unit," he says.
As the head of Ukraine noted, preparations for international meetings in the coming weeks are also underway. Zelenskyy emphasized that Western sanctions could force Russia to stop continuing aggression.
"A clear task for all levels of our representatives - we need our partners to understand that sanctions against Russia truly work. They truly work when they outpace the Russian authorities in adapting to these sanctions. Sanctions against oil. Sanctions against Russian banks and the entire financial sector. Sanctions against individuals and entities that help Russia adapt to global pressure. There needs to be a clear limit to Russia’s ability to adapt - such pressure that they cannot cope with. And this will be the limit of the war, beyond which reliable peace is possible," explained the Ukrainian leader.
