A 29-year-old Kharkiv resident started a fire in the premises of the TRC and jumped out of the window

In Kharkiv, a man set fire to the premises of the district territorial recruitment and social support center and then escaped by jumping out of a second-floor window.

This was reported by the Kharkiv Regional Police.

On June 11, around 19:20, the police received a report of a fire in the building of the district TRC in Kharkiv. Law enforcement officers and emergency rescue services arrived at the scene.

“The arsonist turned out to be a 29-year-old resident of Kharkiv, previously convicted of other crimes. As it turned out, the man had been invited to the premises of the district TRC that day to verify military registration documents. While inside the institution, he took advantage of the moment when the staff was not monitoring his actions, locked himself in one of the rooms, and set fire to the available fabric using a lighter. After committing the act, the perpetrator took advantage of the commotion and escaped through the second-floor window”, law enforcement officers report.

The man has currently been charged under part 2 of article 194 (intentional destruction or damage to property) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. He faces up to ten years in prison.
