Attack on Kyiv: at least 14 dead, including a U.S. citizen
As a result of the massive missile and drone attack by Russia on Kyiv on the morning of June 17, the death toll has risen to at least 14 people.
This was reported by the Kyiv City Military Administration.
One of the victims is a US citizen, confirmed by Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko. Rescue operations are ongoing. From under the rubble of the destroyed entrance of a nine-story building in the Solomyanskyi district, a person was rescued and evacuated through a window on a stretcher.
At least 10 locations in the city were hit by kamikaze drones and ballistic missiles. One of the strongest strikes was on a residential high-rise building — its entrance is completely destroyed, neighboring buildings also suffered, and parked cars nearby were burned out.
Up to 2000 rescuers are working at the scene of the tragedy, search dogs have been involved. Fires are still being extinguished, while explosions continue to be heard in the city — the Russians continue shelling even in the morning.
An operational headquarters has been deployed to assist the victims.
