In the Cherkasy region, a serviceman from the TRC hit a cyclist and fled

A road traffic accident occurred on June 19 in Zvenyhorodka. On Vyacheslava Chornovola Street, the driver of a Volkswagen Passat hit a 54-year-old cyclist and fled the scene. The woman, with injuries, was taken to the hospital, reports the press service of the regional Territorial Center for Staffing and Social Support.

The police quickly identified the driver and his whereabouts. The man was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.

Investigators, under the procedural guidance of the prosecutor’s office, informed the driver of the suspicion under Part 2 of Article 286-1 and Article 135 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanctions of these articles provide for a penalty of imprisonment from three to eight years, with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for a period from five to eight years. The court is deciding on the choice of preventive measure. The pre-trial investigation continues.

A service investigation is being conducted regarding this incident. The Cherkasy Territorial Center for Staffing and Social Support provides necessary information to national police authorities to ensure the inevitability of punishment for the serviceman.
