Budanov pointed to other possible exchanges in the near future
On June 26, another prisoner exchange took place between Ukraine and Russia.
As reported by the head of the Defence Intelligence of the Ministry of Defence, Kyrylo Budanov, another group of Ukrainian soldiers was freed from Russian captivity.
The exchange took place on the International Day in Support of Victims of Torture. According to Budanov, the majority of the returnees to Ukraine were young defenders under the age of 25, as well as severely ill and wounded soldiers. The youngest of those freed is 24 years old. He was captured at the age of 21 during the battles for Mariupol.
Among the released are National Guardsmen who guarded the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant, as well as defenders of Mariupol. Most of them spent over three years in Russian captivity.
Budanov also noted that the Ukrainian side expects new positive shifts and continues to work on the return of every defender. According to him, new exchanges may take place soon.
