IAEA demands urgent inspections after the disappearance of 400 kg of enriched uranium in Iran
After the airstrikes by the U.S. and Israel on Iran’s nuclear facilities, over 400 kg of uranium with the potential for enrichment has disappeared under the supervision of international inspectors.
The IAEA insists on conducting urgent inspections to clarify the situation.
"We have no information about the location of this uranium. Our task is to account for every gram," said IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi in an interview with Fox News.
As The Guardian also reports, Grossi suggests that Iran may resume the production of enriched uranium in the coming months.
According to the IAEA head, recent U.S. strikes on three Iranian facilities have caused significant damage, but did not completely destroy them.
"Honestly, it’s not possible to claim that everything has been destroyed and nothing is left," added Grossi.
Meanwhile, as reported by The Washington Post, citing four knowledgeable individuals familiar with confidential U.S. intelligence data, it has intercepted communications between senior Iranian officials discussing the consequences of the recent U.S. strikes on Iran’s nuclear infrastructure.
Officials, in private conversations, noted that the attacks were less extensive than they had expected.
