During the Russian air attacks against Ukraine on the night of Thursday, the Vatican embassy in Kyiv suffered minor damages.

As reported by Vatican News, this was disclosed by the nuncio (ambassador) of the Holy See in Ukraine, Archbishop Visvaldas Kulbokas.

According to Kulbokas, during the massive Russian attack on Kyiv at night, the premises of the Apostolic Nunciature were damaged.

"It is alarming that it is evident that drones are targeted at civilian quarters. I myself saw and heard with my own eyes that some drones were flying directly around the nunciature, around the houses," the nuncio emphasized.

He added that the diplomats of the Holy See personally heard explosions near the embassy and saw damaged civilian buildings several dozen meters away.

"Our premises also suffered some damage: the roof of the main building is damaged, and the garage and service room were also affected. We collected about ten fairly large fragments, and I think it was a drone, because they look like drone fragments, not a missile," Kulbokas added.

He clarified that the staff of the nunciature was not injured and emphasized that it is located in the Shevchenkivskyi district of Kyiv, where there are many embassies of other countries.
