Zelenskyy prepares decrees on the dismissal and appointment of about 20 Ukrainian ambassadors
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is preparing about 20 decrees regarding the dismissal and appointment of Ukrainian ambassadors.
This was reported by Foreign Ministry spokesperson Heorhiy Tykhyi.
According to him, the average term of Ukrainian ambassadors is about 4 years, so personnel changes are a usual practice. In particular, there is a preparation for the replacement of Ukraine’s ambassador to the United States, Oksana Markarova, whose term is coming to an end.
The process of appointing a new ambassador includes agreeing on the candidate with the foreign side (agrément) and undergoing diplomatic procedures, which can take up to a month.
Most of the decrees will be announced in the context of an ambassadors’ meeting, which will take place on July 21, where other personnel decisions will also be made.
