In an interview with Newsmax on July 15, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted that Russian President Vladimir Putin feels fear towards America, considering his habit of pausing the bombing of Kyiv during visits by special representative Keith Kellogg and other Americans.

Kellogg arrived in Kyiv on July 14 after President Donald Trump’s statement that the U.S. would provide Ukraine with missiles and other weaponry, including Patriot air defense systems, along with a warning of “very tough tariffs” if Russia does not end the war within 50 days.

“General Kellogg arrived, and for two consecutive nights there were no intense bombings. People even started joking about it, saying we should give General Kellogg a Ukrainian passport and keep him here, and that Americans should visit us more often because then Russia will bomb less. What does this show? That Putin consciously targets the civilian population. But when Americans are here, he does not. In other words, he intimidates, blackmails, and creates tension, but he doesn’t go for full escalation,” Zelenskyy said.
