Trump: I am optimistic about a peaceful agreement on Ukraine

A peace agreement that will make new Russian aggression against Ukraine impossible may be possible soon.

This was stated by U.S. President Donald Trump during a meeting with European leaders at the White House.

"I am optimistic and believe that we can reach an agreement that will prevent any future aggression against Ukraine," he said.

Trump made it clear that a resolution on security guarantees for Ukraine will be reached today after a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

"I think today we will come to a decision on practically all issues, including, most likely, security matters," Trump stated.

Trump announced that he expects a trilateral meeting between himself, Putin, and Zelenskyy to take place.

"I think the question is not whether it will happen, but whether it will ever happen," Trump said.

He reported that shortly after today’s talks, he will call Putin to discuss the organization of the meeting.

Trump told Zelenskyy: "I have a feeling that you and President Putin will come up with something. Ultimately, this decision can only be made by President Zelenskyy and the people of Ukraine, working together and in agreement with President Putin. And I think a lot of good will come out of this."
