The SBI exposed a scheme for selling fake medical certificates to evade mobilization

In Kyiv, a lawyer and her accomplices were exposed for producing fake psychiatric diagnoses for military conscripts.

This was reported by Sudovo-Yurydychna Gazeta with reference to the State Bureau of Investigation.

In particular, suspicions have been announced against the lawyer and her accomplices — a former law enforcement officer, an employee of a municipal security organization, and a traumatologist from a medical institution in the Kyiv region.

The suspects influenced the issuance of fake medical documents to men for evading mobilization in exchange for 8,000 dollars.

According to the investigation, the lawyer had friendly ties with a doctor from a state institution and proposed to him to establish an illegal "business." To cover up the activities, she involved a former law enforcement officer and an intermediary, who handled the transfer and distribution of money.

The woman sought out "clients" among men of conscription age and offered them a way to avoid service for 8,000 dollars. For this amount, the group provided certificates of alleged serious illnesses, mostly psychiatric disorders. Such documents allowed military conscripts to avoid service for a long time or even be removed from the register.

During the investigation, two episodes of illegal activity were documented. According to available information, more than 20 individuals used the group’s services.

Investigators conducted authorized searches at the residences of the suspects and in medical institutions.

All suspects have been notified of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (receiving undue benefit for influencing a decision). The penalty under this article provides for up to 5 years of imprisonment.
