A major fire in the Kyiv region following a strike by an enemy drone covered 17,000 square meters, and it took rescuers over 10 hours to extinguish it.

The progress of the firefighting efforts was reported by the Minister of Internal Affairs, Ihor Klymenko.

"The scale of the fire was equivalent to 2.5 football fields. The work of the rescuers was complicated by large warehouse premises of the hypermarket, which quickly filled with smoke. Nearby were other buildings that needed to be protected from the fire," Klymenko noted.

Nearly 400 rescuers were involved in fighting the flames. More than 100 units of special equipment, two helicopters, a fire train, and four robotic firefighting systems were in operation.

"Not only the units from Kyiv region and the capital were involved in extinguishing the fire. Volunteer firefighting units worked alongside professionals," the minister reported.

According to him, rescuers worked in very difficult conditions. Their eyes were red from the smoke, and their faces were covered in soot. Despite this, they protected the surrounding buildings and prevented the fire from spreading further.

"Fire stands no chance where there are Ukrainian rescuers," Klymenko emphasized.
