The USA approved the first weapons packages for Ukraine under the PURL program

The administration of U.S. President Donald Trump has approved the first packages of weapons for Ukraine under the PURL program, and "they are already on the way." The Ukrainian side considers this as an extremely positive signal.

This is reported by Western media and the spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Heorhiy Tykhyi.

In particular, today a high-ranking NATO representative, Patrick Turner, confirmed to Reuters that the first batches of purchased weapons under the new financial agreement with allies are already arriving in Ukraine.

"Four packages under the Ukraine’s Priority Needs List (PURL) have already been funded, and the equipment is already arriving," he noted.

As of the evening of September 17, the Ukrainian side has not yet confirmed the start of deliveries.

However, according to the spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Heorhiy Tykhyi, it is confirmed that the Trump administration has approved the first packages. He also noted that the needs are "high and will remain high." Therefore, Ukraine is counting on the continuation of the mechanism under PURL.

"We think this is a very good interaction, mutually beneficial. Beneficial for us, for European partners, and for the United States," Tykhyi added.

He also noted that the embassy confirmed the information about the approval of military aid packages.

"I spoke yesterday with our embassy in the United States, which indeed confirms that there is information that these decisions have been made. So indeed we have information not only from the media," said the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Tykhyi also claims that Kyiv is counting on the quickest possible supply of military aid.
