There is a shortage of funds in Ukraine’s budget for paying military salaries, — Pidlasa

Starting November 1, there will be a shortage of funds in the budget to pay salaries to the military.

This was reported by the head of the budget committee, Pidlasa.

"Our deadline is determined by the need to make payments to the military starting November 1. After November 1, there are funds in the budget, but they are insufficient," Pidlasa said in an interview.

She emphasized that "the most difficult situation is related to the assistance from partners for funding the defense sector."

To resolve the issue, negotiations are underway with the EU to allow, for the first time, the use of provided aid for military salary payments.

Pidlasa noted that EU governments are not very willing to agree to this due to "voter sentiments."

"I think the situation is different in each country. But overall, yes, using funds from frozen Russian assets or the assets themselves for Ukraine’s defense needs, including financial support for Ukrainian military personnel, is a more politically acceptable decision for Europeans than using funds from their own taxpayers," the deputy explained.

According to Pidlasa, the Cabinet of Ministers will introduce amendments to the state budget in the first days of October.

For the next year, a deficit in the defence budget of 18 billion dollars is also forecasted, the sources of which have not yet been confirmed.
