Putin has caused dissatisfaction among Trump’s team by derailing negotiations with Ukraine.

As reported by the Financial Times, a «tectonic shift» has occurred in the entourage of the U.S. president after the Kremlin continued its attacks on Ukraine, ignoring Washington’s generous proposals.

Trump offered Putin a highly advantageous deal in exchange for ending the conflict.

The proposal included the lifting of sanctions, recognition of Crimea as part of Russia, and economic cooperation, including joint projects for developing Arctic deposits.

However, the Kremlin overestimated its capabilities: Putin dug in his heels and demanded concessions of Ukrainian territories. This derailed the negotiation process, which had lasted over six months and culminated in a personal meeting in Alaska.

Now, the U.S. is providing Kyiv with data for strikes on the Russian energy system, which led to the shutdown of five refineries in September and the start of a fuel crisis.

Washington’s rhetoric has also become significantly tougher. For instance, Special Representative Keith Kellogg stated that the American military «would kick the ass» of Russian forces, while Trump called Russia a «paper tiger.»
