The government has increased additional payments to teachers in frontline areas to 4,000 hryvnias
Teachers who continue to educate children in frontline communities will receive an increased monthly allowance of 4,000 UAH.
This was announced in a statement by Ukrainian Prime Minister Yuliya Svyrydenko.
"During the war, when the enemy is trying to destroy us and our future, the work of Ukrainian teachers is extremely important, as it involves nurturing our next generations—those who will continue to develop our country. At the same time, this work is incredibly challenging, especially under shelling in areas close to the frontline," the Prime Minister noted.
As Svyrydenko stated, from now on, teachers in frontline territories will receive an increased monthly allowance of 4,000 UAH after taxes. This decision was made during a government meeting.
This applies to 25,000 teachers working in 84 communities in:
- Dnipro,
- Donetsk,
- Zaporizhzhya,
- Luhansk,
- Mykolaiv,
- Sumy,
- Kharkiv,
- Kherson,
- Chernihiv regions.
The funds will be credited in October, covering the period from September 1 of this year.
In the 2026 budget, the government has also planned a 50% salary increase for teaching staff.
The Prime Minister also congratulated all Ukrainian teachers on their professional holiday—Teacher’s Day!
"We thank each and every one of you who teaches children and puts your heart into it, for your resilience and daily work. The fact that our teachers stay with the children and continue teaching under constant alarms and shelling, while implementing new approaches, is an example of great responsibility and love for their profession and for the children. The government’s task is to stand by and support you. This is what we are working on," she emphasized.
As a reminder, today, October 5, Ukraine celebrates Teacher’s Day 2025. This is a time to thank educators with warm words, as their work shapes the future of our country.
