The UK has delivered hundreds of air defence missiles to Ukraine five months ahead of schedule

Britain delivered hundreds of air defence missiles to Ukraine five months ahead of schedule.

This was announced by the Minister for Defence Procurement and Industry, Luke Pollard, during a visit of a trade delegation to Kyiv, as stated on the UK government’s website.

The missiles, manufactured in Belfast and known as Lightweight Multirole Missiles (LMM), have already proven effective in defending the Ukrainian skies and were delivered five months earlier than planned under the UK’s gifting program.

Meanwhile, Thales, the company based in Belfast, is moving to the next stage of collaboration with Ukrainian partners under a contract valued at 1.6 billion pounds. The new phase will allow for deeper integration of LMM missiles into Ukraine’s air defence system, enhancing its defensive capabilities.

The British government also disclosed that a British trade delegation visited Kyiv this week to strengthen military support for Ukraine.

"The United Kingdom is reinforcing its unwavering commitment to helping Ukraine defend against Russia’s unlawful invasion. This year, we will spend 4.5 billion pounds on military support for Ukraine — more than ever before," emphasized Minister Luke Pollard.
