Europe is increasing its support for Ukraine amid Trump’s shifting position on the war

Against the backdrop of yet another shift in Trump’s position on the war in Ukraine, Europe rushed to strengthen Kyiv’s positions.

As Politico writes, European leaders want to agree on a trilateral support package for Ukraine to ensure the strongest possible negotiation positions. This package includes increasing funding and ramping up arms deliveries to Ukraine, as well as implementing new anti-Russian sanctions.

The issue is that Trump’s change of position has revived European fears that he might force Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to cede lands to Russia that it desires. Such a development, according to European officials, would be a catastrophe not only for Ukraine but also for them.
