Ukraine’s drones have disabled a portion of the capacity of Russia’s fourth-largest oil refinery
Ryazan Oil Refinery halted its primary oil distillation unit following an attack by Ukrainian drones. It is the fourth largest oil refinery in Russia.
This was reported by Reuters.
Industry sources told the agency that the processing unit CDU-4 was urgently shut down yesterday, October 23, after catching fire following a drone attack.
Its capacity is 80,000 barrels per day, which is about a quarter of the plant’s total capacity.
The oil company Rosneft, which owns the refinery, did not respond to a request for comment. Agency sources reported that the refinery is still processing oil, but in smaller volumes.
One source stated that some adjacent units were also shut down, including the reformer, vacuum gas oil hydrotreater, and catalytic cracking unit.
Last year, the Ryazan Oil Refinery processed 13.1 million tons of oil. It produced 2.3 million tons of gasoline, 3.4 million tons of diesel fuel, and 4.2 million tons of fuel oil.
