Extradition of former SSU chief: Austrian court to consider handing over Naumov to Ukraine, accused of fraud

The Austrian court will soon consider the issue of extraditing the former head of the Main Department of Internal Security of the SSU to Ukraine.

This was reported by the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI). The name is not mentioned, but it is likely referring to Andriy Naumov, who was dismissed from the SSU in 2021 due to a scandal related to facilitating smuggling.

Naumov left Ukraine on the eve of the war and spent a year in prison in Serbia. In Ukraine, several criminal cases have been opened against him, including for fraud.

«In October 2025, he moved to Austria. Ukrainian law enforcement agencies informed their Austrian counterparts about this. All necessary documents for extradition were promptly prepared and submitted to the competent authorities of Austria,» the SBI stated.
