Shmyhal: New contracts for the Armed Forces of Ukraine will apply to all military personnel

New contracts for the Armed Forces of Ukraine will apply to current servicemen.

This was announced by the head of the Ministry of Defence, Shmyhal.

Servicemen who have served for two years will be eligible for a one-year deferment from mobilization.

According to him, contract service provides the opportunity to choose a position and place of service. The contracts apply to everyone, primarily to current servicemen. After a certain period of contract service, a deferment will be granted.

"Current contract soldiers and mobilized individuals will be able to sign such contracts. The duration of service can be chosen. The only condition is that after 2 years of contract service or more, a deferment from mobilization is granted. During martial law, it will be for 12 months, as in contracts for 18-24 months," Shmyhal explained.

For contracts with a duration of one year, according to him, such a deferment is not provided.

The amount of financial support for contract soldiers will be 50-60 thousand hryvnias.

However, for now, these are only plans and statements. There is no official order from the Ministry of Defence or the Cabinet of Ministers regarding the introduction of a new format of military service yet.
