Another 11 children were returned to Ukraine
Ukraine managed to return 11 children whom the Russians deported to their territory or held under occupation.
Commissioner for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets spoke about this.
Among the returned children are 6 girls, including two two-year-old twin sisters, and 5 boys. The youngest child returned is 2 years old, the oldest is 16 years old. Two children were met with an ambulance, since one child cannot move at all.
“Ukrainians managed to return from the TOT and the Russian Federation through the mediation of the State of Qatar and with the support of UNICEF, as well as assistance in the work of the State Border Service. This return, like all others, occurred within the framework of the implementation of the approved action plan of the President of Ukraine Bring Kids Back UA. Working the way return and the entire process was handled by the Office of the Ombudsman together with other government bodies. The relatives of the children contacted our institute to return forcibly displaced and deported Ukrainians to their homeland," the message says.
Together with our team, the children were greeted by the Ambassador of Qatar to Ukraine, Hadi Al-Ghajri.
Unfortunately, the fate of the children is tragic - they were forced to endure the occupation of their hometowns, bombing and injury, and the death of their relatives. The Russian Federation forcibly certified some of them and even found “guardians” for them.
Now the Ukrainians are at home. Our task is not only to take care of logistics, safety and other areas of return, but also to further ensure that children receive psychological and humanitarian assistance, involving partners in this.
We will continue to work to bring home Ukrainian children kidnapped by the Russians and promote family reunification!
