"Lack of Infantry": AFU will not deter Russians without mobilisation - "Da Vinci Wolves"
The Ukrainian military relies on mobilization because the Ukrainian Armed Forces need specialists. The commander of "Da Vinci’s Wolves", Serhiy Filimonov, said that infantry is needed on the battlefield, even with less motivation.
There is a shortage of infantry on the battlefield. According to the commander of the separate mechanized battalion “Da Vinci Wolves” Serhiy Filimonov, forced mobilization partially covers this. He spoke about this in an interview with LIGA.net.
“There is a shortage of infantry. Forced mobilization partially covers this, but there are questions about quality,” said Serhiy Filimonov.
He said that it is more important for every commander to have an artillery specialist who knows how to hit, count and make friends with the system, or a creative engineer who will build explosive or non-explosive barriers that are difficult for the enemy to overcome, or a company and platoon of fire support, who will not allow the enemy to approach the position.
According to Filimonov, it is necessary to ensure an influx of specialists into the Armed Forces of Ukraine, even if the infantry will have lower quality and motivation than the support unit. Therefore, the military relies on the mobilization that Ukraine is conducting.
“Without mobilizing at least 250,000 fighters, we have very little chance of containing the Russians on the borders where we are now,” he emphasized.
He added that this year we are not talking about restoring borders, returning Crimea, Mariupol or Donetsk. The military man believes that changes in the army, mobilization, recruiting, assistance from partners, permission to use weapons to strike the aggressor’s territory and events in Russia determine whether Ukraine will only defend itself this year.
