Mobilization in Ukraine: which document defines limited suitability

Since the beginning of the Russian full-scale invasion of Ukraine, regimes of general mobilization and martial law have been in effect. Men between the ages of 18 and 60 are conscripted into the army to defend the country.

Persons liable for military service must undergo a military medical commission, which determines the degree of suitability for military service. What document regulates limited suitability, read the material OBOZ.UA.

What is restricted suitability?

Restricted suitability is the status of citizens liable for military service, according to which they are unfit for service in peacetime, but can be mobilised to the army under martial law.

Those who are of limited suitability cannot serve, in particular, in the airborne forces, naval personnel, marines, or in special buildings. At the same time, such citizens are considered suitable for service in support units (units), military registration and enlistment offices, institutions, organizations, and educational institutions.

That is, those who are limitedly suitable cannot be sent to the front, but they can be mobilized and left, for example, to serve under the TRC and SP.

When undergoing the MME, it is indicated which types of service are contraindicated with limited suitability.

Which document defines limited suitability?

As lawyer Andriy Topchiy explains, the Regulations on undergoing a medical examination at the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine do not directly establish the issue of limiting prolonged physical activity.

“Unlike the Regulations “On Military Medical Examination”, according to the above Regulations, you may be recognized as limitedly fit for military service in the State National Service of Ukraine under clause “B” of the disease schedule,” the specialist notes.

Andriy Topchiy adds that in this case, the commander must determine the position of the person liable for military service, taking into account the restrictions.

“I recommend contacting the MME with a request to determine a specific list of positions in which you can serve, taking into account these restrictions,” the lawyer advised.
