Ukraine launches national registry of pirated resources

Ukraine has joined the international system for monitoring copyright violations on the Internet.

The Ministry of Economy of Ukraine announced its joining the global platform WIPO ALERT to combat the illegal use of intellectual property in the online space. The press service of the department reports this.

On March 21, the Ministry of Economy approved the procedure for creating and maintaining a national list of suspicious websites whose activities may violate copyright and related rights. The registry will become part of the WIPO ALERT information database under the auspices of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).

By joining the data exchange system, Ukraine will now be able to both receive data on potential violations of intellectual property rights on a global scale and provide information about similar cases on the territory of our state.

Now copyright holders will be able to submit applications to Ukrpatent to include a certain web resource in the list of sites whose activities cause concern from the point of view of copyright compliance. As of today, Ukraine has become the 15th country to join the WIPO ALERT initiative.

The Ministry of Economy notes that the creation of an effective mechanism for protecting intellectual property rights on the Internet is an important factor for the development of creative industries and strengthening the national economy.
