Russia shelled Ukraine with Tu-95MS bombers: explosions were heard in western Ukraine

On the night of Sunday, 31 March, the aggressor country, the Russian Federation, following the Shaheda attack, launched a series of cruise missiles at Ukraine. The enemy targets flew from north to west, and explosions were heard in several regions as air defences were activated.

At the same time, Poland once again scrambled planes because of Russian missiles in western Ukraine. Monitoring channels monitored the situation.

According to them, six Tu-95MS strategic bombers took off from the Olenya airfield in the Murmansk region of the Russian Federation and began moving towards launch lines in the Saratov region and the Caspian-Volhodonsk region.

“Between 01:05 and 01:20, two Tu-95MS took off from the Engels-2 airfield. A total of eight aircraft were in the air,” they added later.

At 04:07 the enemy launched X-101 cruise missiles. After this, anxiety began to spread throughout the regions. At 04.28 the information was confirmed by the Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

As of 05:00, an air raid alert was declared in all regions of Ukraine. Missiles were recorded flying from the Chernigov region to Kyiv; from the Kyiv region - to the Zhytomyr region; through Rivne region - to Ternopil region, Volyn, Lviv region and Carpathian region. Regional military administrations warned about the work of air defence forces.

Around 06:00, Poland notified its citizens that due to the Russian missile attack on Ukraine, aircraft were operating in Polish airspace, which "may lead to increased noise levels, especially in the south-eastern part of the country."

At approximately half past seven, the air raid alert was lifted in the regions of Ukraine. According to monitoring channels, during the attack the Russian Federation used:

– X-101/555 cruise missiles (launched by Tu-95 aircraft from the Saratov region of the Russian Federation);

– attack UAVs of the “Shahed” type (from the Chauda training ground in temporarily occupied Crimea).

“The greatest distance of ~2060 km (from the Saratov region of the Russian Federation to the Ternopil region) was covered by some of the Kh-101/555 missiles in two hours of flight,” the report says.

The Lviv region, Odesa region, and Khmelnytskyi region were under missile and drone attack. The enemy also struck at the energy complex of our country. The rocket attack lasted two hours.
