The family of the former head of the Lviv Regional Council, 45-year-old Oleksandr Hanushchyn, owns seven apartments in Lviv and a house in Bryukhovychi.

NGL.media journalists found out that the family received this property as a gift. In addition, Hanushchyn’s mother-in-law, 72-year-old Nadiya Tomynets, has purchased 8.3 hectares of land in the Carpathians over the past two years at much cheaper prices than market prices.

The investigation states that Nadiya Tomynets lives in the mountain village of Borynia and works as an infectious disease specialist at a local hospital. Of the land she recently acquired, 5 hectares are located in the vicinity of the Tustan fortress, which is popular with tourists. Nadiya Tomynets bought these plots from ATO veterans. One of them, a resident of Lviv, told reporters that he had received 1.2 hectares of land for free from the Skole City Council, but he needed money and sold the land for $3,000. Three more plots near the Tustan fortress were allocated free of charge by the Skole City Council to a resident of Chernihiv and residents of Chapli and Rainova villages, 65 km from Urych. They resold the plots 5-10 times cheaper than even the estimated value.

In his commentary to NGL.media, Oleksandr Hanushchyn did not want to explain the price difference. He noted that the sale and purchase of land is not punishable by law in Ukraine.

"If my mother [mother-in-law] did it, then honour and praise to her for finding the strength to buy the land," said Oleksandr Hanushchyn.

Investigators say that Nadiya Tomynets also owned two apartments on Shevchenko Avenue in Lviv, but in 2021 she gave the property to Oleksandr Hanushchyn’s wife, Solomiya. She had previously given her daughter a 367.7 m² house with several plots in Bryukhovychi. Hanushchyn’s mother-in-law also owns a 120 m² apartment in the 5th Avenue residential complex. Nadiya Tomynets inherited it at the end of 2023 from her 90-year-old mother Sofia Yartym, who had lived in the small village of Ropavske all her life. Two years before her death, she allegedly invested UAH 1.9 million in this residential complex.

Solomiya Hanushchyn’s father, 76-year-old Nestor Tomynets, also gave his daughter three apartments in the Lviv residential complex Velyka Britannia. Oleksandr Hanushchyn told NGL.media that his father-in-law bought these apartments in 2012 on his advice to invest the money he had earned over 17 years in Portugal. However, the journalists found out that Nestor Tomynets did not actually invest his money in the apartments, but received them as a gift on 31 December 2020 from 67-year-old Lviv resident Darya Tchaikovska.

According to the documents, Oleksandr Hanushchyn owns only a house with a small plot in Rakhiv, Zakarpattya, which he inherited in March 2021. At the same time, his wife has a number of properties donated by her parents. Hanushchyn told NGL.media that he was not involved in the acquisition of the property and has a marriage contract under which his wife and her parents are financially independent. The journalists note that it is currently impossible to assess the real financial income of the former head of the Lviv regional council, as he is a military man and his new declarations are hidden.
