Will women be given summonses during mobilization?

According to the new law on mobilization in Ukraine, which will come into force on May 18, women can be called up to serve in the Armed Forces only with voluntary consent.

At the same time, all women from 18 to 60 years of age with a medical or pharmaceutical specialty who are fit for service for health reasons must be required to register for military service.

But military registration in the territorial center of recruitment and social support (TRC and SP) does not mean mandatory mobilization, since such women can be drafted into the army solely at their request.

In addition, women who have an education related to a military specialty from a list approved by the Ministry of Defence are not required to register for military service, but can do so voluntarily.

Also, the law on mobilization, signed by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, talks about gender equality in the army. The document notes that women, under the same conditions as men, are accepted into contract service, conscripted and, under equal conditions, undergo military service and perform military duty.

Women aged 18 to 25 can also undergo basic military training, but only voluntarily. Men of the appropriate age, in turn, are required to undergo basic military service in the form of combined arms and professional training, which in wartime will last 3 months.
