“When the policeman stopped us, I thought he was alone, and when I hit him, I didn’t know there was a second partner. I thought that the policeman I was talking to was alone and hoped that he would lose consciousness and we would move on. I didn’t think that a second policeman would show up and open fire on the car where my father was. I was in a state of shock, ran behind the car, automatically pulled out a gun and opened fire on the policeman, but I didn’t want to kill him,” Vasilake said.

He also confirmed his father’s words that the grenades they were transporting belonged to him.

“There were two boxes of F-1 grenades, each box containing 10 pieces. I wanted to bury houses for indefinite times,” Vasilake said.

The Vinnytsia City Court sent Vitaliy Vasilake, suspected of murdering a policeman, into custody for two months without the possibility of bail.
