14 million in illegal assets were found in the possession of the deputy chief of police, - NABU

Based on the results of lifestyle monitoring, law enforcement officers identified signs of illegal enrichment from a police officer who, while holding a senior position in Dnipro, acquired assets worth at least more than 14 million hryvnia over two years.

This was reported by NAPO, SBI, the Office of the Prosecutor General, and the UP source in law enforcement agencies.

From 2021 to 2022, the suspect held the position of deputy head of one of the police departments of the Main Directorate of Police in the Dnipropetrovsk region. During this time, he illegally enriched himself and acquired assets that exceeded his legal income by more than UAH 14 million.

We are talking about purchasing:

- land plot;

- residential building;

- a 2017 PORSCHE MACAN car.

In particular, it was established that the employee’s mother-in-law purchased a plot of land, the cost of which, according to the agreement, is 37,500 UAH. Subsequently, she was granted ownership of a residential building, which was being built in 2022.

This is confirmed by documents obtained during the implementation of investigative actions within the framework of criminal proceedings, information about which is entered into the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations.

Law enforcement also found out that the Porsche Macan, the formal owner of which is the father-in-law of a police officer, was actually used by the official’s wife.

The savings and total official income of the employee, his family, father-in-law and mother-in-law are significantly lower than the value of the acquired assets.

On April 23, 2024, the SBI under the procedural leadership of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Prosecutor’s Office reported suspicion of illegal enrichment and declaring false information to a law enforcement officer from Dnipro, who in 2023 was also exposed for extorting $200 thousand non-existent debt.

The official was charged with declaring false information and illegal enrichment.

The issue of choosing a preventive measure for him is being decided.
