The key priority of the Ramstein format meeting will be air defence for Ukraine

US Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin said that the top priority at the meeting of the Ukraine Defence Contact Group, which began on the afternoon of April 26, will be strengthening Ukrainian air defence.

He stated this while opening the remote meeting of the Ramstein format.

Austin noted that Russia has recently stepped up air strikes on Ukrainian territory.

“Today we will pay special attention to strengthening Ukrainian air defense. Ukraine critically needs a larger air defense system, and urgently needs more interceptor missiles. This will be a big priority for us today,” the Pentagon chief said.

Artillery and armored vehicles will also be a priority.

"Two years ago, I said we know what a difficult ordeal you’re going through and we all support you. We still do, and we won’t back down," Lloyd Austin said.
