The Council of Europe has taken an important step towards creating a special tribunal for the Russian Federation

The Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe instructed Council Secretary General Marija Pejcinovic-Buric to begin preparing a potential draft agreement between Ukraine and the Council of Europe on the actual establishment of the Tribunal.

This was reported by the press service of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry.

As the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry stated, this is an “important practical step” towards the creation of a special tribunal for crimes committed by Russia.

In particular, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba said that Ukraine will continue to work to ensure that a fully functioning tribunal delivers fair justice.

“This is crucial not only for all Ukrainians who have suffered as a result of Russian aggression, but also for all peoples striving to live in a peaceful and secure world,” he wrote.
