The situation around Chasiv Yar is getting more complicated: Russian Armed Forces form assault groups

In the area of the settlement of Chasiv Yar, Bakhmut district, Donetsk region, the situation is complicated due to the fact that the Russian command was unable to achieve significant successes before the inauguration of Russian President Vladimir Putin on May 7 and moved on to forming strike groups to storm the city. Military-political observer of the Information Opir group Oleksandr Kovalenko writes about this.

“The situation around Chasiv Yar is becoming more complicated. The command of the ROA (Russian occupation army. - Ed .), having not received any worthy result by May 7, the day of the inauguration of the Russian small maniac (the capture of either one of the nearest villages or one of the neighborhoods in eastern sector of the city) and especially without the prospect of this result by May 9, we went all-in,” writes Kovalenko.

The observer notes that instead of creating the conditions for the occupation of Chasiv Yar by capturing the "quartet" of Bohdanivka-Ivanivske-Klishchiyivka-Andriivka, Russian troops began to form a strike group to launch an assault on the city.

As Kovalenko pointed out, currently the following units are working in the settlement:

• 331st Parachute Regiment, 98th Airborne Division;
• 11th separate air assault battalion.

In the direction of Klishchiyivka there are:

• units of the 88th separate motorized rifle battalion of the 2nd Army Corps;
• 1307th Motorized Rifle Regiment of the 6th Motorized Rifle Division of the 3rd Army Corps.

At the same time, assault groups consisting of the 217th and 331st Parachute Regiment of the 98th Airborne Division are formed in the rear zone for further operations. The number of attack aircraft at the initial stage ranges from 150 to 300 people.

The main goal of the first stage of the assault is to establish control over Kanal and the Novyi district, Kovalenko believes. The main areas of attack, according to the observer, will be focused on the 0506 road from Khromove to Kanal and through the Nimetsky forestry farm to Stupky-Holubivsky-2, bypassing the village of Ivanivske, which is still under Ukrainian control.

"Thus, the catalysis of the offensive on Chasiv Yar will start in the second half of May or even a little earlier, taking into account the pace of assault groups formation. The first units will be ready by the end of this week. Will they be thrown into the assault next weekend? As fodder for battlefield reconnaissance - more likely yes than no," Kovalenko concludes.
