Electricity imports are not able to completely cover the deficit, - Ukrenergo

After the massive attack of the Russian Federation on the energy infrastructure of Ukraine on May 8, the loss of electricity generation is quite significant - imports of electricity from Europe are not able to completely cover the deficit in the energy system.

This was stated by the head of the board of Ukrenergo Volodymyr Kudrytskyi on the air of UP. Live.

According to Kudrytskyi, the previously announced limitation on energy saving for industrial consumers will be “almost guaranteed”; for household consumers, it will “depend on how much we as consumers can save and voluntarily limit our power consumption.”

He added that after the attack on May 8, the generation deficit is quite large.

“Many important power plants have been damaged - these are three DTEK power plants and two hydroelectric power plants, so we are experiencing this shortage.

“Ukrenergo” facilities, unfortunately, are constantly targets for the enemy, but the impact on the company’s facilities is now not decisive for the energy system; the decisive factor is the damage to a large number of power units at thermal power plants and hydroelectric power stations,” explained the chairman of the board of “Ukrenergo”.

“The damage is quite large-scale, the loss of generation is quite significant. How significant is that even the import of electricity from Europe is not able to completely cover the deficit that has formed in the energy system,” he emphasized.

According to him, repair work is ongoing - different objects have different degrees of damage.
