The General Staff told how the number of FPV drones at the front has changed over the year

The number of FPV drones used by Ukrainian defenders at the front has almost quadrupled over the past year. And the number of aircraft-type UAVs is almost threefold.

This was announced by Colonel Ivan Pavlenko, head of the Main Directorate of Electronic Warfare and Cybersecurity of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. On May 24, he spoke at a briefing at the Ukraine-Ukrinform media center.

The military man said that the active use of drones will continue, “this is a developing trend.” “Therefore, in particular, the ability of people, our specialists, to correctly use our means, coordinate their activities, etc. are very important,” he noted.

Unmanned and robotic systems are changing the very paradigm of war. Electronic and cyber warfare systems are being developed that can effectively counter these weapons.

Situational awareness systems have already been created in Ukraine. In addition, they make it possible to understand where friendly and enemy assets are located and to detect Russian drones.

Pavlenko assured that the leadership of the Armed Forces of Ukraine pays great attention to the development of electronic warfare, and the number of relevant units is growing.

“An additional electronic warfare and cyber warfare training course has been introduced for non-specialists so that our military personnel have at least a basic knowledge of the electromagnetic spectrum, electronic equipment, how it all functions, and also understand the basic issues of cyber hygiene and cyber defense. That is, so that they understand the threats that carry all modern electronic means,” explained the colonel.
