Sweden gave Ukraine permission to fire its weapons at Russia

Sweden allowed Ukraine to use the weapons it supplied to destroy targets directly in the Russian Federation. The head of the Swedish Ministry of Defence, Paul Jonson, said that, according to international law, Ukraine has the right to defend itself through military actions directed against enemy territory.

Jonson made a corresponding statement in a comment to the Swedish newspaper Hallandsposten . “According to international law, Ukraine has the right to defend itself through military operations directed against enemy territory, if the military actions comply with the laws of war. Sweden stands for international law and Ukraine’s right to self-defense,” he said.

As Hallandsposten notes, Ukraine’s defense boundaries should be set by international law, not by restrictions from allies that cost Ukrainians their lives.
