Crime boss of the 90s era “Tataryn” Iskander Kirimov has died
On the night of Monday, May 27, 2024, at the age of 67, Iskander Kirimov passed away. In the era of the turbulent “nineties-noughties,” he gained considerable recognition in the capital’s Pechersk Hills as a powerful crime boss nicknamed “Tataryn” / “Ihor Tataryn.”
The corresponding obituary was published on his Facebook page by the former functionary of the UDAR party, ex-adviser to the head of the Foreign Intelligence Service, Kostyantyn Byedovoy.

In the comments to the corresponding post, Tatarin’s longtime business partner, ex-restaurateur Andriy Zadorozhniy, expressed his regret for the deceased. “The kingdom of heaven to God’s servant! I was not a scoundrel - it’s true! The dinosaurs are leaving little by little - an era is passing away!” he noted.
According to Detective-Info, “Tatar” actually retired in the early 2010s due to serious health problems. Kirimov struggled with the disease for a long time, but his venerable age and the echo of the “sins of youth” finally accelerated his transition to the best of worlds.
The worthy man, who at that time had the nickname “Igor,” began his own career in the criminal world in Podol back in the Soviet era of the “era of stagnation.” Kirimov’s two “walks” are considered an echo of this, in particular for involvement in the theft of state property and rape.
After his release, “Tatar” actively joined the list of “chroniclers” of the process of formation of the organized crime system in Ukrainian territories.

The stormy 90s and early 2000s are a period of rapid development, prosperity and power of Iskander Borisovich. At that time, the ranks of the powerful Tatar group numbered more than two hundred active participants, and Kirimov himself became one of the regular “clients” of the Organized Crime Control Department.
However, the authority, considered one of the leading “knights of thieves’ Olympus” of the capital and who was credited with a close connection with representatives of the political elite, regularly managed to solve his problems with the law.
It is believed that such a talent contributed to new achievements of “Ihor Tataryn”. Allegedly, it was he who was one of the first worthy people who began to diversify risks, and to invest the capital received as a result of his victories through expansion into the most “tasty topic” of those times (both in the field of legalization of funds and their laundering): catering establishments.
This is how the star of the largest restaurant chain in Ukraine at that time, “Kozyrnaya Karta”, came down, where Andriy Zadorozhniy was in charge of operational issues, and “life problems” (and not only) were solved by Kirimov. It was rumored that it was Iskander who had the last word on this, and not only, topic. From there comes the cliché of the authorship of individual correspondents of crime chronicles of that time regarding the involvement of “Tatar” in the “hall of fame” - the so-called “golden five” (in another interpretation - seven) of criminal generals of Kyiv.
Be that as it may, such “trump cards” of Kirimov did not serve as a “talisman” against law enforcement officers. In 2008 and 2009, the authority was twice harshly detained by special forces in Kyiv due to constant complaints of those times. Despite the fact that the corresponding drug incidents of "Tatar" did not lead to a conviction, the authority gradually left the forefront.
From the heights of the “pedestal” he achieved, Iskander descended with respect: first he occupied a solid place in the orbit of the thief in law “Mamed” (Serhiy Pakhomov/Mamedov), and later he retired “due to length of service due to health reasons”, without losing most assets.
