A large-scale system of torture of prisoners in colonies has been exposed in Ukraine: a video is published

Employees of the State Bureau of Investigation have revealed numerous cases of torture of prisoners in correctional institutions in a number of regions of Ukraine . In particular, we are talking about “Bozhkovska correctional colony” No. 16 in the Poltava region.

A video of abuse of prisoners in the Bozhkovska colony has appeared.

The video shows the prisoner being hit on the feet.

Suspicion was reported to four officials of the State Institution "Bozhkovska Correctional Colony (No. 16)". During the investigation, numerous facts of bullying and beatings of persons serving sentences in colonies were exposed.

The investigation established that almost everyone who ended up in the colony was a victim of the criminals. The process of identifying persons who became victims of colony officials continues.

“New arrivals were threatened with settlement among “completely degraded” prisoners and beaten until they broke their will, and then forced to unquestioningly carry out any instructions. Currently, information is being verified even about the facts of death from beatings,” the report says.

The SBI established, in particular, that from the moment of arrival at the colony, each of the convicts underwent a strict reception procedure, during which newly arrived convicts were forced to clean the floor and the process was filmed on video camera.

If he refused, he was subjected to torture - beaten with hands, feet, rubber truncheons, sticks in different parts of the body, arms twisted, etc. Among other things, the fact of inflicting more than 200 blows on one of the convicts was documented.

Also, the investigation has video files that record the moment of inflicting grievous bodily harm on one of the arriving prisoners at the Bozhkova Correctional Colony.

The investigation has evidence of torture in this and other correctional institutions, which are now the subject of research.

Four officials of the State Institution "Bozhkova Correctional Colony (No. 16)" were informed of suspicion under the second part of Article 127 (torture) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (as amended by the article before amendments by Law No. 2812-IX dated 12/01/2022).

The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of up to 10 years. The issue of choosing a preventive measure for suspected persons in the form of detention is being resolved.

Work is also being carried out to establish other facts of torture and collect evidence of the involvement of other officials of the colony, in particular the management staff.

Investigative actions are also being carried out at the office of the North-Eastern Interregional Directorate for the Execution of Punishments of the SCES (State Criminal Executive Service of Ukraine) and at the head of this institution.

In addition to information about the possible organization of a system of extortion and bullying in subordinate institutions for the execution of criminal punishments, the reasons for his receiving private property that significantly exceeds his official income are also checked. We are talking about numerous apartments, office space and luxury cars.
