Ministry of Social Policy spoke about subsidies after increasing electricity tariffs
Ukrainians will continue to receive housing subsidies even despite the increase in electricity tariffs. At the same time, the state has the necessary funds for this.
This was announced by First Deputy Minister of Social Policy Dariya Marchak. She noted that:
- the subsidy mechanism works in such a way that “if the tariff increases and you are a family receiving subsidies, the subsidy will be transferred to you”;
- The recalculation process itself will be performed automatically.
“Payments are calculated by the Pension Fund, which has a very powerful IT system. For all families who have subsidies, we will automatically transfer these subsidies ourselves. There is and will be money for this,” the message says.
At the same time, Marchak emphasized that those who, as a result of the tariff increase, are experiencing difficulties paying bills can also count on the subsidy. To do this, you need to contact the Pension Fund.
"The convenient tools that have been developed are the so-called simplified application for a subsidy. Go to the website of Action or the Pension Fund, then to the electronic account, where you can submit a short application online. We will do the rest ourselves as a state. And we will assign subsidies to everyone who needs them,” summed up the deputy minister.
In general, subsidies will practically not feel the rise in current prices. After all, Ukrainians are given a subsidy for a certain amount of utility services. For example, 1.6 cubic meters of hot water for one family member. As soon as a cubic meter of water becomes more expensive, the size of the subsidy increases.
And although state budget expenses on subsidies will indeed increase, due to rising tariffs, the state needs to allocate less to cover the electricity tariff. Now companies receive compensation from the budget for selling electricity for the needs of the population at a price significantly lower than the market price.
