Polish Foreign Minister Radyslaw Sikorskyi said that Polish instructors cannot be sent to Ukraine to train its army, since it would be more effective to form and train their own unit from Ukrainians living in Poland.

According to the publications Rzeczpospolita, WNP and PAP, Sikorski noted that Poland has considered Ukraine’s request for the provision of military instructors, but he believes that training Ukrainian military personnel in Ukraine would be unreliable and it would be more effective to pay more attention to Ukrainians in Poland who are subject to conscription into the Ukrainian army .

Earlier, Polish Defence Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamisz announced his readiness to help the Ukrainian army and return those liable for military service home. Poland’s Interior Ministry also promised to extend temporary protection for Ukrainian refugees without passports.

However, Sikorskyi considers the issue of returning conscripts to Ukraine “morally ambiguous” and expects further steps from Ukraine. He also points out that Ukrainians of military age who are in Poland and evading military service in Ukraine should not receive social benefits.
