An accountant of one of the military units in the Donetsk region organized a scheme to enter fictitious data on the participation of soldiers in hostilities in order to take the accrued money for “combat” for himself and other participants in the scheme.

“A criminal case has been opened under two articles, namely: 191 - misappropriation of property through abuse of official position and 366 - official forgery.

Investigators established that the criminal group included three people. It was headed by the chief accountant of the military unit. It was established that from May 2023 to January 2024, by entering false statements into financial statements, they illegally misappropriated 4.5 million hryvnia,” says the source.

The detainees have already been informed of the suspicion. The issue of choosing a preventive measure is being decided. They face up to 12 years in prison.
