Civilians will be punished for wearing military uniforms
For wearing a military uniform with insignia of military units, a civilian Ukrainian may be fined or subject to community service. This norm is valid in Ukraine not only during martial law.
Back in 2019, the article “Illegal wearing of military uniforms with military insignia” was added to the Code of Administrative Offenses. If you are wearing a “pixel”, and even with stripes belonging to one of the military formations of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, this may result in a fine of 150-200 thousand non-taxable minimum incomes of citizens. Today it is 2250–3400 UAH.
However, law enforcement officers may limit themselves to a warning and confiscate a uniform that a citizen by law does not have the right to wear in a public place.
In case of a repeated offense within a year, the fine will be 3400–6800 UAH. Also, administrative work for a period of 30 to 40 hours can be applied as a disciplinary measure. The form, again, will be confiscated.
National Police officers can detain a citizen walking around the city in a military uniform with differences, without having the legal right to do so. They will draw up a protocol to further bring the offender to justice.
Let us remind you that according to Ukrainian laws, military uniforms can be worn by:
- military personnel;
 - persons liable for military service during training;
 - reservists;
 - cadets;
 - Lyceum students

If a military man has been transferred to the reserve or retired altogether, then while he retains the right to wear a military uniform, he can also wear it when visiting public places.
