Analysts at the Institute for the Study of War reported that Ukrainian forces had recently recaptured positions in the north of Kharkiv region and regained lost ground on the Kupiansk-Svatovo-Kreminna line. However, Russian troops advanced in the eastern part of Chasiv Yar.

The situation in the Kharkiv region

A report from the American Institute for the Study of War reported that the Ukrainian Armed Forces recently repelled positions in the north of the Kharkiv region amid fighting.

The commander of the Ukrainian drone battalion operating in the Kharkiv direction reported on June 28 that the situation in the northern Kharkiv region had stabilized and that Russian forces had not made significant progress since around June 12.

He also stated that Russian forces are using both Storm assault units, staffed by poorly trained personnel, and regular Russian units in the Kharkiv direction.

According to him, Russian forces are quickly replenishing their strength in the area, despite significant losses. Fighting in and around Vovchansk continued on June 28. It is reported that units of the Russian engineering battalion "Phoenix" are trying to remotely replace areas in the north of the Kharkiv region.

On June 11, ISW noticed a message that units of the Russian 83rd Airborne Brigade were operating near Chasiv Yar.

Analysts note that units of the Russian 83rd Airborne Brigade in the Kharkiv direction likely suffered significant losses, which made them ineffective in combat.

The situation in the Luhansk region

The Ukrainian Defence Forces recently regained lost positions on the Kupyansk-Svatovo-Kreminna line.

Geolocation footage published on June 28 shows that the Ukrainian Armed Forces have recently regained lost positions south of Kreminna and east of the village of Ternove.

It is reported that on June 28, Russian troops advanced along the Kupyansk-Svatovo-Kreminna line. However, there is no confirmed data on the advance of Russian troops in this area.

The Russian military correspondent claimed that Russian troops advanced in the area of Stepna Novoselivka and Serebryanskyi Forest, but ISW did not find confirmation of these claims.

The Russian Army continues offensive operations in 9 directions.
