This critical scenario is cited by Kyiv Post journalists.

Since March, Russia’s strikes have deprived Ukraine of more than nine gigawatts of electricity production - half of what was needed to power the country last winter. For context, one GW is enough to power approximately 750,000 homes simultaneously in the US. In three months, Ukraine lost nine times more.

Official data indicates that Ukraine has lost more than half of its electricity generation capacity due to infrastructure being damaged, destroyed or under Russian occupation.
