Russian war criminals destroyed a 110-year-old church in honour of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the village of Novoekonomichne in Donetsk region. The shrine was shelled on 8 July 2024.

The windows in the temple were broken, the walls, the ceiling, and the altar were destroyed. The consequences of the arrival of the Russian missile were reported on Facebook by the Ukrainian Orthodox Church with reference to the press service of the Intercession Vicariate.

They emphasized that the temple remained intact both during the Bolshevik regime and during the Second World War.
