“The children, together with their relatives, lived in the temporarily occupied territories - in the Donetsk, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions. Fortunately, now they are already in the territory controlled by Ukraine,” he said.

According to the Ombudsman, each family experienced the chaos caused by the occupiers in its own way. In particular, families tell how they were forced to take Russian passports, because without “new documents” they could not use any social guarantees or medical care.

“Doctors do not even accept children with congenital defects who need careful care. However, parents are offered to send their children to “rehabilitation,” which often amounts to deportation or forced relocation. Some children had to attend Russian schools, where there was active propaganda for the “Russian world” , says Lubinets.

 

 

According to the returnees, the Russians at TOT detain, beat, torture with electric shocks, exert psychological pressure on adults, and interrogate children without their parents and also use torture methods. They also regularly conduct groundless searches in the homes of local residents.

“I was struck by the story of the returned guy, who, planning his future, left TOT, because he wants to become a Ukrainian rescuer and get an education at the desired institution of higher education,” he said.
