People’s deputies ask the Constitutional Court to increase pensions
The Constitutional Court agreed to consider the submission of 56 people’s deputies asking to change the rules for calculating pensions. If there is an appropriate decision, they will be able to claim reimbursement of underpaid funds.
People’s deputies are dissatisfied with the legislative norms according to which they are awarded pensions. Therefore, they appealed to the Constitutional Court with a request to change these norms. If this happens, the parliamentarians will receive a pension of 29 thousand UAH. The details of the constitutional representation of the people’s deputies were discussed on the Observer portal.
Journalists drew attention to the constitutional submission received by the Constitutional Court on June 13, 2024. The document was signed by 56 people’s deputies and it contains 49 pages. The text indicates that, according to current laws, they receive a pension in the amount of 60% of the salary of current people’s deputies. At the same time, payments are indexed, but are not transferred as for other citizens. According to the authors of the proposal, this violates their constitutional rights. They propose updating a number of laws, and then pensions will be transferred to them. In addition, the article says, it will be possible to demand compensation from the state for lost funds.
According to estimates presented on the portal, people’s deputies will have a pension that will increase to 29 thousand UAH. The increase is 10 thousand UAH.
